Black Opium is a hard hitting metal rock band who are currently attending Bay of Plenty Polytechnic studying for the Diploma in Music. Moving from heavy metal, playing a chromatic progressive, fast strumming, ambient sound -- into different incarnations of a new genre, death metal. The setup most frequently used with the death metal genre is two guitarists, a double bass drummer and lead vocalist. Death metal is usually identified by its abrupt tempo, key and time signature changes with complex drumming and guitar work.  The genre death metal is talent personified but all too often not realized until you listen to the sounds being produced.
